Although each of Maui's large hotels and resorts offers wedding and event services, there are a handful of private locations that offer something a little different. These are not suited to large events, but can be a special or unique setting for a small wedding or gathering.

IMPORTANT: Effective May 23, 2012 Maui County has new vacation rental legislation that is designed to control the impacts that vacation rental homes can have on the surrounding neighborhoods.  One of the provisions in this legislation is a NO PARTIES, NO GROUP ENTERTAINING clause.  Occupancy in a vacation rental home can be no more than 2 guests times the number of bedrooms (a three bedroom home can rent to 6 guests, a four bedroom home to 8 guests etc).  Use of the property is restricted to only those guests listed on the rental agreement.
If you are booking your wedding at a private home, be sure to ask if they have an EVENT PERMIT to allow your party.  It wouldn't be much fun to be evicted in the middle of your wedding.

But the good news is that vacation rental homes will finally be able to get a permit to rent.
